The Susanne Beer Cello Corner Foundation

Susanne Beer (1967-2019), former co-principal cellist of the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO), founded The Cello Corner, a Suzuki method teaching studio, in Highbury & Islington in 2012. Through her inspirational teaching, she trained over sixty young cellists, many to a high level. Susanne passed away in December 2019 at the age of 52, from melanoma cancer. Towards the end of her life, she decided to create The Susanne Beer Cello Corner Foundation, so that she could continue to support young musicians well into the future.

The Susanne Beer Cello Corner Foundation is now run by a group of Susanne's friends, family and LPO colleagues. We endeavour to preserve Susanne's memory and spirit and to continue her support of young musicians in attaining excellence in performance. The Foundation offers:

Fine cello and bow loans
Cash prizes at the Concert Corner
Assistance with tuition costs
